In July-August 2022, ARISE+ Indonesia trusted PLUS to provide training for 10 Indonesian Geographical Indication (IG) product management entities. These entities are responsible for managing and protecting 10 premium-quality Indonesian products, including Gayo Coffee, Bali Amed Garam, Bali Garam Kusamba, Berau Cocoa, Bajawa Coffee, Manggarai Coffee, Bali Sibetan Salak, Muntok White Lada, and Jimbaran Bali Cocoa.

Geographical Indication (GI) is a sign that indicates the origin of a product, based on environmental and human factors. It gives the product a certain reputation, quality, and characteristics. This training program was supported by representatives from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the Ministry of Trade, and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries of the Republic of Indonesia. Private sector entities were also present.

The aim of the program is to help IG product managers implement marketing strategies and collaborate with other parties to expand their markets in Indonesia. More than 100 Indonesian products have been identified as GI products with premium quality. If managed well, these products can support increased welfare for farmers and local communities.

Strengthening marketing strategies is crucial for most IG product managers, as it helps them gain more exposure and acceptance in the market. At the end of the training and discussion session, the participants agreed to activate the MPIG forum, which is a forum for collaboration between IG product managers. This forum will focus on business cooperation to increase awareness and marketing of GI products. Two forms of cooperation were agreed upon: the IG Corner, which is a spot to display IG products from all over Indonesia, and a joint cooperative managing IG products for trading.
